Ds. Fanie & Mada Engelbrecht

Fanie & Mada EngelbrechtFanie and Mada both come from a white Afrikaner rural background and were raised in the Dutch Reformed Church. Fanie received Jesus in his life and heard the Lord calling him into fulltime ministry at the age of 12. As he was studying to be a minister, he met Mada at university. They were married when he finished his theological studies and they worked in the Unifying Reformed Church (coloured people in South Africa) for 10 years. Then they moved to the Dutch Reformed Church (white Afrikaners in South Africa). They served the Lord as a pastoring couple for 30 years.

In 2002 the Lord opened the way for them to take early retirement and join Mercy Ministries South Africa full-time as national coordinators. Their main focus is ethnic reconciliation, flowing into Biblical community development.

Fanie states, "We really believe that the only place where people from different ethnic groups and different denominations can be healed and reconciled is at the cross where we can transfer our pain and suffering, together with our sins, onto Jesus, our Pain Bearer, and receive lasting healing."
