What is Trauma?
Trauma is defined as "an event which causes damage and injury; a psychological and emotional distressing event outside the normal range of human experience." Trauma is caused because we naturally do not know how to cope with the event.
In this seminar you will learn about the normal stages of crisis, the impact of crisis on beliefs, pre-crisis preparation, normal and abnormal responses to trauma and how to help people cope as they work through their responses of fear, guilt, grief, etc. You will learn what you can do to help, when you should refer to professionals, how to recognize and reduce stress, and the symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder. The special needs of children will also be covered.
