Project Profiles
Our community development team is involved not only with projects that are traditionally more understood as "community development" like agriculture or health projects, but also with projects involving member care or ethnic reconciliation. Below is a list of the projects with which we are presently working.
Africa - Mobile Member Care Team International
- Location: Accra, Ghana - but serving East, North and Central Africa
- Partnering Organization: Mobile Member Care Team (MMCT)
- Description: An MMCT has been functioning for a number of years in West Africa (first in Ivory Coast, and now in Accra, Ghana), serving the Christian mission community across West Africa in training, counselling and crisis response services. This project seeks to broaden the ministry into more of Africa, and perhaps, into the Middle East. For details on what they offer, check out their website: www.mmct.org

Cambodia - Health Care Development Project
- Location: Stung Treng, Cambodia
- Partnering Organization: Youth With A Mission
- Description: This is a multi-faceted health project that works across a broad region of Cambodia. It includes: a health centre, an HIV/AIDS prevention program, teaching English, Malaria prevention, mother and child health program, a non-formal educational program, a youth centre and a community health development project, training village health volunteers, school construction, general health education, family latrines, well, gardening, bridges, fish ponds and veterinary volunteers.

Democratic Republic of Congo - Restoration Ministry
- Location: Ituri District and Beni Territory (North-eastern Region)
- Partnering Organization: Centre Medical Evangelique (CME- Nyankunde)
- Description: This is a reconciliation program aiming by the end of 2008 to eqiup the church to produce and multiply 3,200 transformation agents who will contribute toward the restoration of regional peace through
ministering Biblical healing of psycho-social wounds caused by ethnic conflict. Already, they have far surpassed this goal! In just 2 years they have seen 11,352 receive systematic teaching and 5,000 have testified that they have experienced healing from psycho-somatic wounds caused by suffering, fear hatred and wrong attitudes toward other tribes. Peace is now the norm in this region! (The fighting in the news is now several hundred kilometers to the south of them.) Madagascar - Community Health Project
- Location: Toamasina II Region (including all the villages in the province of Toamasina within 80 km to the town of Tamatave), Madagascar
- Partnering Organization: Mercy Ministries Madagascar
- Description: Their goal is to improve
the general health health of the rural populations in the Toamasina II region through training local health workers identified by the villages and work with the village to build health posts and plant new churches. - Le Rucher Ministry Involvement: Assisting through project proposal writing, donor reporting, on-site evaluations.
Middle East - Life Improvement of Handicapped Poor
- Partnering Organization: Located in Europe and the US
- Description: This project seeks to focus attention upon and provide therapeutic resources to impoverished, handicapped children and adults. They provide basic day-to-day care to institutionalized children and young adults, and at the same time, seek to train and encourage families to care for their children, rather than putting them into an institution.

North Africa - Rural Community Empowerment
- Partnering Organization: Located in Europe
- Description: This project seeks to empower the members of 2 communities per year to become responsible and efficient agents of their own development. Thus, they are trained in order to increase their capacity and to realize their ability to affect their own future. Literacy, health, income generation and basic development principles are taught and then each village is encouraged to design its own community development project.

Rwanda - Le Rucher Ministries Great Lakes Region
- Location: Kigali, Rwanda (Great Lakes Region includes Rwanda, Burundi, Eastern Congo (DRC), Tanzania, Uganda and Southern Sudan)
- Partnering Organization: This is our own office running in Kigali, serving the region in the ethnic reconciliation ministry
- Description: This project seeks through healing and reconciliation training programs to enable Christian and political leaders in the Great Lakes region to become catalysts toward holistic development. Many activities continue to be run in Rwanda, while international forums are held each year within the region. In 2007 this was held in Burundi. Hopefully, the forum in 2008 will be held in DRC. South Africa - Ethnic Reconciliation
- Location: South Africa
- Partnering Organization: Mercy Ministries South Africa
- Description: This project seeks to multiply ethnic reconciliation in South Africa by raising up multi-ethnic, multi-gender teams trained and equipped to facilitate reconciliation in their nation. They run reconciliation workshops all around the country, as requested, and have seen many people set-free to understand and love one another, even those from different ethnic backgrounds.
